The dictionary defines ‘imperialism’ as “The policy of extending a nation’s authority by territorial acquisition or by the establishment of economic and political hegemony over other nations”.

Imperialism is not a word that we hear every day. Yet, it is a condition that determines the daily lives of millions of people. Newsmen and women do not normally describe current events with this word, yet current issues are very much related to the word.

Covert attitudes of the today’s world refrain from using this word in association with current issues.Violations of human rights are being disguised as the war on terrorism, border control laws, and religious preferences.

Instead of teaching children not to hate, not be racist, children are taught to be tolerant. That is not the same message. The dictionary define tolerant as “able to withstand or endure an adverse environment, and able to endure extremes. Excuse me, but that is the same as teaching children to “put up” with other races.

You rarely find news media that calls a rotten apple a rotten apple. This is why I want to share this article on imperialism with you.
